Delightful Dozen Areas of Preparedness
Imagine your life is a circle like a clock.
This diagram known as the “Delightful Dozen” shows what things must happen first, for everything else to happen
If we start in the center with WISDOM, this wisdom applies to every other area
This wheel shows how to be prepared for challenges similar to how you read an oldtime clock, starting at the upper right and going around clockwise
You start with being safe and protected, make sure that everyone’s breathing well and that everyone can maintain their core temperature around 99° Fahrenheit
You then make sure everyone is hydrated and healthy as possible
From here, there are many different things that matter and it depends on your situation
Typically the most important skills are leadership, discernment and being able to create whatever is needed as it’s needed
Typically, the most important resources are time, energy and information
What information you need depends on what you’re wanting to be, have and do
You also need the tools and equipment in order to have it happen
You then need to exchange those for things that you don’t have in the form of barter or wealth
Cash, credit and consumables are often what people think of and we have compiled a list of things that are most valuable to have
Once all these things are in place, it’s typically about continuing to maintain optimal health and have the best nutrition
This pattern repeats itself every day unless something challenges us and we are no longer safe
Then we use these same order of priorities in a different location and transport our loved ones and belongings to a safer space
This is the art of transportation and navigation
Once we arrive in the new space, the order of priorities continue in that same order again
The order of priority in the wheel is based on a teaching called the Rules of 3s that shows the order of importance of things in life:
Rule of 3s
3 Seconds without Safety
• Survival Required 24 Hours a Day
3 Minutes without Air
• Oxygen is highest priority
3 Hours without Shelter
• Core temperature stays in the 90s
3 Days without Water
• Hydration allows you to maintain
3 Weeks without Food
• Basic Nutrition
3 Months without Community
• We need connection
